„Drei Nocken“ – moderate hike with hut stop

Walk on the historical traces of the „Hadischen Leut“.

The hike "Stage 1: Seeboden - 3 Nocken" starts at the Pichlhütte at 1336 meters and leads you through lush, deep green forests to the Sommeregger hut at 1720 m above sea level then continues on a paved gravel road to the Hansbauer hut.

A hiking trail takes you past the "Steinernen Tisch", the most beautiful place in the region, over the Gamsbründelsteig on the Tschiernock at 2,082 meters above sea level.

From the gentle summit of Tschiernock the path leads you from time to time to experience the graceful view over the Millstätter lake, over the Hochpalfennock and the Tschierwegernock up to the Alexanderhütte (hut).

The destination of the stage "3 Nocken" - the Schwaigerhütte - you hike over a paved gravel road, which leads you past a throne-like raised hide.

Walking time: ca. 4 hours
Difficulty: average
Arrival: take the hiking bus to the Pichlhütte; Pick up at the Schwaigerhütte

Safety on all tours has the highest priority: as an experienced mountain rescuer your host Gerhard Winkler clarifies.

„Egelsee“ – comfortable hike with panoramic views

You start your hike directly from the hiking hotel Moserhof.

From the hiking hotel Moserhof you cycle over the beautiful Seebodener bay at the Millstätter See on route no. 1, the Petermannbachweg, direction Peter-Santner climbing-garden, then continue on route no. 23, the Egelsee-Höhenweg, to the Opferstein. From there you hike on to the Egelsee, a natural bog lake and a very special natural jewel in Carinthia.

The hike continues along the same path with magnificent panoramic views of Lake Millstatt and the Drau valley back to the starting point, the hiking hotel Moserhof.

Walking time: ca. 2 hours
Difficulty: easy

„Kunst am Weg“ – Walk through Seeboden

Starting point of the walk is the hiking hotel Moserhof

Go directly from the hotel on the Wirlsdorfer Straße in the south. Through the connecting road Seegärten you come to the district Wirlsdorf and walk down the rill to the lake.

At the turnoff to the Klingerpark we see on the left the small "Gendarmeriepark", which reminds of the history of the executive in Seeboden.

In the Klingerpark itself we meet every step of the way a well-known Seeboden artist: Otto Eder. The classic Greek sculpture was his model, the "Great Lie" reminiscent of it impressively. The park is a central resting place in Seeboden. Enjoy the tranquility of the secluded pond and the gurgling brook and the wonderful view over the Millstätter lake across to the impressive summit of the Mirnock. In the park stood until the 70s the Villa of Sonja Knips, who was a model for Gustav Klimt.

We go back a bit and turn at the Bachlwirt in the Kochstraße. On the "way of the proverbs" we let the worldly wisdom work on us.

In the Bay of Seeboden old meets something new: on the right we can see the oldest building in Seeboden, the "Brugger Keusche", which houses the first Carinthian Fishing Museum; on the left is the modern building complex Hotel Royal X.

In the rose and water park of the garden and florist business Winkler we meet again the artist Otto Eder. Karl Winkler senior used the balcony parts of the former Villa Seeboden for the construction of a gazebo.

From the spacious pier we discover the Seeboden’s landmark, the mermaid.

From the Fischereimuseum, the Fischerweg leads us along the outflow of Lake Millstätter See, which flows into the Lieser. The old arch bridge, the Grabenfranzbrücke, was formerly the only crossing over the Seeausfluss; no wagon came past it. Today it serves as a pedestrian bridge. But we turn back here and walk back through the Alte Straße. The Römerweg left hand got its name from the burial place of a Roman girl from the late 3rd century AD, which hides behind the wall today.

Our next destination is the impuls.center directly at the roundabout. The light-flooded gallery of the office and business building offers not only a view over the lake, but with the changing art exhibitions incentives for all the senses.

Along Winkler's Gartenwelt we return to the Kochstraße, from where we walk up to the main street and see the well preserved Troppanvilla. It reminds of the beginnings of Seeboden tourism around 1900.

We take a little detour past Postplatzl, where until a few years ago the post office stood. Opposite is the traditional Postwirt. Here we meet for the first time the artist Thomas Györy with his designs. The fountain on the main square, which we reach a little further along the main street, is of his inspiration. On the way there, the meanwhile trained art and lake expert has the chance to discover yet another sculpture by Otto Eder.

Walking time: ca. 2 hours
Difficulty: easy
